Getting there
Island Packers, 1691 Spinnaker Dr, Ventura. Be there by 7:00 Friday. Campers check in an hour early, and anyone not ready 30 minutes before the boat doesn't get on.
Boutcher and I are driving the kayaks down.
Parking
Pay at the Port District kiosk on the walkway next to the Island Packers building, grab a parking pass at check-in, and park in the Whale Lot. It's about $10 a day, so carpool.

The plan
Friday
- 8:00
- Boat leaves. About an hour across.
- Morning
- Haul gear up to the group site, up to a mile from the pier, and set up camp.
- Afternoon
- Head down to the beach for a paddle.
- 6:00 PM
- Season opens and some of us will dive. If you're not diving, hang out at camp or come back down to the beach.
Saturday
- Morning
- Wait for a few folks coming over on the boat.
- Day
- If the weather's nice, paddle west, maybe even up to Coche Point. There are some caves out there that could be good for bugs.
- Evening
- Group dinner, hopefully lobster tacos.
Sunday
- Morning
- Pack up and get our gear down to the pier.
- Noon
- Boat home.

Food: Group dinner Saturday night. The rest is BYO.
There's no way to buy anything on the island. No store, no ice, no fuel.

Kayaking
Kayak, PFD, paddle, seat, and helmet are covered. Bring the rest. Saturday is a long day, so pack like it.
Food and drinks
What the boat will take
60 lbper person, not counting water
45 lbmax for any one bag
5 galmax per water jug
- Soft coolers only. No YETI-style coolers, and nothing over 45 lbs.
- No carts or wagons.
- Fuel canisters get handed over separately at check-in. Don't pack them.
- Anything with a lithium battery rides in your day pack. That includes dive lights, headlamps, and vapes.
- Knock the dirt and seeds off your boots and gear before you come.

- The rules are strict, and they'll probably be patrolling.
